110 East

Situated in the heart of Charlotte’s vibrant South End, 110 East is a transit-oriented office building designed to connect seamlessly with its urban surroundings. Steps from the LYNX light rail, it offers immediate access to dining, retail, and public spaces, fostering a dynamic environment that blends work, community, and culture.

The building’s facade exemplifies this integration. Custom vertical glass fins extend in staggered lengths, creating a striking three-dimensional texture. Intersecting with horizontal bands, these elements form a “woven” pattern that honors South End’s textile heritage while adding depth and movement to the exterior. The glass’s reflective and transparent qualities respond to changing daylight, giving the building a constantly evolving character.

At street level, expansive clear glass opens the building to the public realm, blurring the line between inside and out. This creates an inviting streetscape that engages with nearby public spaces, a mural, and the LYNX light rail, fostering connectivity and vibrancy.

The facade combines historical inspiration with modern performance. A combination of YKK AP’s high-performance YWW 60 TU SSG Window Wall system and YCW 750 SSG Curtain Wall System enhance occupant comfort and energy efficiency: low-emissivity coatings reduce solar heat gain while maximizing daylight, lowering reliance on artificial lighting, and supporting flexible, collaborative workspaces. The intersecting glass and horizontal bands not only reference South End’s industrial past but also visually link the building to the movement of the light rail below, reinforcing its presence within Charlotte’s skyline.

By merging aesthetic storytelling with advanced performance, the glass at 110 East celebrates the area’s heritage while supporting sustainability, user comfort, and active public engagement.
